Tu Me Manques

You are missing from me
Neck craning, clawing at empty space
Where our memories should be.

You are missing from me—
Like a mute mother tongue,
An unread story,
Unexplored territory.

Bruised knuckles, bleeding,
Beating at bolted doors.
No holding, barred from entry.

You are missing from me.

Now things are mapless,
Contextless, compassless.
Aching and sick with it,
Bitter and sinking in it,
Swimming in the thick of it.

To know what I do not know—
You’re gone, were never here.

Missing from me—
Now where do I go?
